Interdisciplinarity is one of the most promising opportunities currently open to the academic community.  It represents an escape from the narrowing possibilities of knowledge acquisition brought on by ever more straitening educational curricula.
Reality, the object that knowledge seeks to acquire, is One and Whole.  The greatest current threat to science, was losing sight of the fact that its division into separate fields, was a temporary consensus built to facilitate the process of continued knowledge acquisition.
Although science claims superiority over all other forms of acquisition of knowledge, there is no real guarantee that the claim is legitimate.  If truth should be what each chooses to believe, then it holds that truth be subjective.  We construct our knowledge of reality through basic assumptions we hold to be true: religion, magic and even science itself are beliefs thaAt should unite in the quest for an ever greater understanding of reality.
